Vintage Nachtmann Andernach Cuttoclear Crystal Wine Glass Pair Wedding Halloween

Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 7 1/2 inches high. These would be perfect for a bride and groom Halloween wedding toast! The tradition of cut-to-clear crystal dates back centuries in Central Europe, particularly in Germany and Bohemia, where skilled artisans layered vibrant colored glass over a clear crystal base before cutting intricate patterns through the top layer. Nachtmann, established in Bavaria in 1834 by Michael Nachtmann, became renowned worldwide for producing exceptionally brilliant lead crystal glassware utilizing these classic overlay techniques. Their tableware lines often combined traditional Old World craftsmanship with striking geometric motifs designed to catch and refract light. The Andernach pattern exemplifies the sophisticated aesthetic of mid-century European glassware production, blending deep color saturation with precise hand-polished cutting. These pieces required immense labor, as each glass had to be mouth-blown, flashed with color, and painstakingly wheel-cut by master artisans to reveal the clear crystal underneath. Today, such vintage colored stemware remains highly sought after by collectors seeking to add dramatic color and elegance to formal dining settings.
